Visit The Old Manse, the centerpiece of Concord’s political, literary, and social revolutions. Built in 1770 and witness to “the shot heard ‘round the world,” this house inspired notables including Ralph Waldo Emerson and Nathaniel Hawthorne, who lived and wrote here in the 1800s. Tours are offered seasonally, special events year-round. The Old Manse is a property of The Trustees of Reservations, which preserves nearly 100 special places throughout Massachusetts.
